Before the start of the game, each player is assigned a value for his or her chips. A pot is the aggregate of all the bets that have been made by all the players. This pot includes the total amount of bets that have been made by the previous player. The pot can be won by the player who makes the highest bet, or by the player who makes the bet that no other player calls.
Once the player with the best hand has been determined, all players who remain in the game are required to match the bet. If the player with the best hand folds, he or she is deemed to have dropped. If the player who has the lowest hand refuses to drop, he or she is deemed to be bluffing. During the showdown, the card(s) that have been hidden are revealed to the other players.
